James A. Gillett, Jr.
James A. Gillett, Jr. was born in 1865 and died in 1940. His wife was
Emma Hazel Gillett and she was born in 1869 and died in 1948.
James A. Gillett, Jr. came to Woodbine with his parents in 1869. His
brothers were Joe and Grant and all farmed near Woodbine. James, Jr. farmed
north and west of town and also part of the town.
After Grant gave up the ranch operation, James, Jr. took over the ranch,
and being a conservative man, operated the ranch on a much more moderate scale.
The beautiful home they lived in just east of town was built in 1910.
James, Jr. and (Emma) Hazel had three children: James H. who married
Thelma McCoy and Paul Eugene who married Virgie Reber. One daughter, Mildred
M., who was born in 1896, died in 1929.
