Milton C. Gugler, son of Samuel and Emma Gugler, was born November 3, 1890
  and died August 10, 1974. He grew up in the Lyona community north of Woodbine. 
  He was a member of the Gugler Brothers Quartet who were in great demand for 
  special music. 
       Milton served in the U.S. Air Corps. After service he attended college,
  graduated from Washburn University and the University of Wisconsin, was
  working for a PH.D in botany and zoology when he received a letter from William
  H. Mitsch asking if he would consider returning to Kansas to work in the
  Woodbine State Bank.
       In January 1920 he returned and was employed at the Woodbine State Bank.
       He married Lillian DeMand, daughter of Lyona Methodist minister, in 1921.
       In 1924 he moved to Abilene to work in the Farmers National Bank. He 
  became president in 1942 and held that position until 1972 when he became 
  chairman of the Board of Directors. He served until he passed away in 1974.
       He held many offices in clubs and organizations during his life time.
       They were parents of Harriett (Mrs. James Rice) of Hays, Kansas; Wendell
  who serves as president of Farmers National Bank of Abilene. A daughter, Carol
  Jean died in 1944.
