Oscar H. Gugler was born august 1, 1884 and died January 28, 1972. He was
married to Minnie Biegert, born June 5, 1887, died December 11, 1969. They
made their home in the Lyona community north of Woodbine until 1931 when they
  moved into Woodbine.
They were farmers. After moving into Woodbine their home and yard were
recognized for the beautiful flowers and garden produce as they continuously
kept in touch with the soil and nature. Their yard was a bird sanctuary - food
and water always available for the birds.
Oscar was employed as a machinist at Ehrsam Machine Shop in Enterprise
until he reached retirement. Later he served as custodian at the Woodbine
school where he was well known for his care and concern, as well as his
friendship with the children and teachers. When the Woodbine Rural High School
was organized he served as the first clerk of the school board. They raised
five children: Ernestine (Mrs. Ralph Koons) of Topeka, Lloyd, retired teacher
of Junction City; Vincent passed away in 1974, Dorothy (Mrs. Paul Froman) of
Salina, Carl passed away in 1984.
Oscar and Minnie lived in Woodbine until ill health made it necessary for
them to moove into Junction City in 1969 where they received special care during
  their remaining years.
