Mr. and Mrs. Val Hendrix came to Woodbine August 1, 1957. They took over management
of the Woodbine Co-op Telephone Company when Mrs. Don Langvardt resigned. Val was
manager, lineman and operator. Hazel was bookkeeper and operator. They lived in the
  apartment of the telephone building.
Mr. Hendrix died March 21, 1963. Hazel became manager and Reed Garrett took care of
  the line work.
The Tri-County Telephone Company bought the Woodbine Telephone Company in 1968. Tri-
County installed a dial system which was put into service in July, 1969. At this time
Hazel retired and has made her home in Woodbine.
