Edgar Henricks Family
Edgar Henricks and Mabel Kandt were married on April 30, 1939 and have lived on the
same farm south of town ever since. Edgar farmed all his life. He passed away December
24, 1982.
Edgar served on Woodbine High School Board and the Navarre Elevator and Farm Service
boards. He was a 4-H project leader and also on the Lutheran Church board.
Mabel worked for Agricultural Adjustmant Administration after high school graduation
from Woodbine. She was a 4-H community leader, held offices on County Extension Board,
Woodbine EHU, and Lutheran Church. She presently is secretary-treasurer of her church
circle, president of County Extension Homemakers Council and president of the Woodbine
Boosters and serves on the Woodbine history book committee.
They had four sons. All were active members of the Jolly Jayhawkers 4-H Club. Dean,
a 4-H National Achievement winner, is now a veterinarian in Carmichael, California. He
is married and has 2 daughters.
Maurice, who was killed in a car accident.
Wayne is a supervisor for the General Motors Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas.
He is married and has 2 daughters.
Vernon is head baseball coach and assistant athletic director at Fort Hays State
University, Hays, Kansas. He is married and has a son.
