Lowell Hettenbach was born in the Liberty Center community and attended
  the Liberty Center Grade School and the Woodbine High School, graduating in
  1942. From 1945 to 1946 he served in the Armed Forces.
       In December 1947 he married Helen Smith of Enterprise. They moved into
  Woodbine in 1949 where Helen taught first and second grade at the Woodbine
  Grade School. At this time Lowell was employed by Liberty Township for road 
  maintenance.
       While living at Woodbine they became the parents of three children, Paul,
  Susan and Bruce. They were active in the church and community activities.
       After moving to Abilene in 1957 where Lowell started his contracting
  business, they added two more children. Mary and Karen. Helen now works for
  the School Food Services as a cook School.
       Paul and Joann (Holt) live in Abilene and are the parents of Andra, Staci,
  and David. He is in the contracting business with his father.
       Susan and her husband, John Kummer, Jr., farm east of Chapman and are
  the parents of Jennifer, Johnny, and Jimmy.
       Bruce, a CPA, and Judy (Mikesell), an RN, own an accounting business
  with offices in Abilene and Salina.
       Mary lives with her husband, Jay Ramey and Amanda in Abilene and works
  in the Alco offices. Jay is employed by KPL gas service.
       Karen lives in Wichita with her husband Joe Higgins and is an accountant
  for KG&E. Joe is a routeman for Dolly Madison Cakes.
