Bernhardt Herman Enoch Oesterreich
The son of Henry and Bertha Lassohn Oesterreich was born July 6, 1891 on a farm
northwest of Woodbine.
He attended the Woodbine Grade School and the Enterprise Normal Academy, from
which he graduated.
Bernhardt was always interested in the advancement of the church and the
community. He served long and faithfully as the Methodist Church financial secretary
and Sunday School superintendent. He also served many years on the Coop Elevator and
Woodbine Telephone Company boards of directors. He was president of the Dickinson
County Historical Society for many years.
He had one sister, Viola Musselman, of Clay Center.
He moved to Woodbine from the farm in 1972. He later became a resident of the
Lutheran Home in Herington. He passed away on February 23, 1979 at the age of 87 years,
seven months, and seventeen days.
