Lowell and Kathie Oney moved from Ohio to Woodbine in 1977. "Oney" is in the
Army and was then stationed at Fort Riley. Thanks to the helpfulness of the town's
grocery store owner, Judy Fells, they rented a house in town owned by the Rowe
Garretts. It is siuated across the street from the Eugene Riffels. They soon made
their the Oneys feel like "family". All of the townspeople were friendly and made
them truly feel a part of the community.
In 1980 they were transferred to Fort KNox and then Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
They made two visits back to Woodbine before being sent to Germany for a three
year tour. There, in March of 1983, Philip Lowell was born. From that moment on he
has kept Kathie very busy. She doesn't write as many letters as she used to. The
Oneys were able to visit Woodbine on their return from Germany in 1984. They were
then on their way to their new duty station at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where
 they currently reside.
They enjoyed the years they lived in Woodbine. They will always remember the
kindness of everyone and the friendships made. They hope to go back periodically to
visit, even it they are never able to make their home there again.
