Raymond Pagenkopf
Raymond Pagenkopf married Lillian Albrecht (born and raised west of
Herington) in 1938, living on the property of his father in a house
William bought and had moved from Woodbine, which was the Kufalk house.
They started a dairy then, renting ground. They later bought land from
Ora Kohler, grandfather Kleinschmidt's place and several farms after his
father passed away. Raymond is a graduate of Woodbine High School; Lillian
is a Herington High School graduate, and both have farmed nearly fifty
years on Raymond's birthplace. They have one daughter, Deanna, who also
attended Woodbine grade and high school, but graduated from Herington.
Deanna and her husband, Jerry Dieker, live in Manhattan, Kansas and both
are civil service employees. They have four children.
Besides caring for the numerous livestock on the farm - hogs, cattle
and sheep - being in dairy for 39 years, having their daughter in 4-H for
eight years and helping a nephew in the 4-H program for nine years, they
are active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. At present, Raymond has
cultivation ground rented out, but farms the alfalfa and brome for his
feeder cattle and sheep.
