James Reddy Family
The James Reddy family lived in Woodbine where Brad Warnica now lives. Mr. Reddy
worked on the section and was Woodbine School janitor for 27 years. He married Bertha
Volkman and they were the parents of Jesse, Ed. Elsie, Bill and Everett, all born in
Woodbine. Bertha died February 10, 1927.
Ed Reddy was a cement contractor in Abilene.
Jesse M. Reddy was born April 19, 1891. For 37 years he was an inspector for the
Food and Drug division of the State Board of Health. He was also a registered pharmacist
in Kansas, Colorado and Missouri. Jesse passed away November 3, 1966. His wife Ruth,
born December 24, 1898, died on September 15, 1975 at Wichita. Jesse and Ruth lived in
Woodbine for a number of years.
Elsie Reddy, a daughter of James REddy, was married to Sam Schmidt and lived in
Topeka.
Willard (Bill) Reddy, a son of James born in Woodbine July 15, 1901, married Hazel
Mikesell October 7, 1930. They had the Conoco station in Woodbine. He died July 16, 1961.
Everett Reddy, a son, worked for the Wichita Terminal Railroad.
James A. Reddy was born in Moline, Illinois August 12, 1858 and died May 5, 1939
and is buried in Woodbine Cemetery.
