There were so many family get-togethers. December 26 was always the day for
Christmas at their house and also "Grandpa Isaac's" birthday celebration.
One of the memorable events was held near September 27 of 1942, when their
youngest son, Ira, turned 21 and 45 years of life together for Isaac and Julia.
A photographer came to the farm home and took pictures of the 56 descendents who
were enjoying this double occasion. The Ira Riffels now reside at this home.
From that beginning there now are second, third and fourth generations of
families living in the Woodbine vicinity. At one time 29 students were enrolled
at Walnut Grove, a rural school west of Woodbine. There were 24 first cousin Riffels
attending that year. Families continued their close relationship with family reunions.
