Rinehardt and Otillie Schlesener
Rinehardt Schlesener was born September 7, 1871 on a farm northeast of Hope in
the Shadybrook community. He was the son of Johann Herman and Wilhelmina Henriette
Augusta (Pagenkopf) Schlesener. He was a farmer, stockman in the Hope and Dillon
area.
Rinhardt (Riney) married Otillie W. Schmidt, daughter of August and Catalina
Schmidt, on February 1, 1892. Otillie was born August 28, 1872 on the family farm
southeast of Hope. This farmstead is now inundated by the new Herington Lake.
Rindhardt and Otillie had eight children. Clara married Charles Schlesener.
She died in 1963. Kurt died in 1965. Ida married Albert Timm. She died in 1968.
Sophia, widow of Calvin Oesterreich, is married to Milton Oesterreich and lives on
the farm east of Woodbine. Anna married Tom Mosley. She lives in Anthony, Kansas
and operates a shoe store in Harper, Kansas. Clarence married Johanna Riffel. She
is deceased. Clarence lives on a farm west of Woodbine. Theodore (Ted) married
Ruby Pauline. They live in Topeka, Kansas. Herbert died in 1974.
Rinehardt and Otillie moved to Woodbine in the fall of 1945 from Dillon after
Rinehardt's retirement from farming. They lived in the house across the street east
from the Paul Lester Jahnke residence.
Rinehardt died January 20, 1947. Otillie died on September 2, 1953. Both are
buried in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Shadybrook.
