Charles H. Shippy Family
Charles H. Shippy was born on the Shippy home farm one mile north of Woodbine,
in the year 1893. In the early nineteen hundreds, his parents moved to a farm on
Carry Creek. There Charles attended school at Liberty Center District #101 and Pearl
U1. He graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1915. After graduation,
the two brothers, Harvey and Charles, farmed together with some help from their
father.
December 25, 1926 Charles was married to Daisy M. Schoemaker from the rural
Hope community. They rented the Shippy farm and bought the Timm farm which they
farmed in the Woodbine communitiy. In 1941, a farm was bought from Mrs. Ed Munsenmeyer
in the Lyona community.
Their children attended school at Liberty Center District #101, Lyona District
#1, and Carry Creek District #14. All six children graduated from Chapman High School.
Kansas is the home of their children at present. Alfred lives in Abilene; Velma
and Della Mae, Overland Park, Kansas (suburb of Kansas City, Kansas); Eldon, rural
Navarre; Earl, rural Hope; and Gerald, Lyona community.
Charles and Daisy have turned the farming over to their youngest son, Gerald.
They are enjoying retirement in their home.
