Frank and Annie Shippy
The Shippy family lived on Lyons Creek. The Ruckert girls and the Beckel girls
used to work for Mrs. Shippy. William Shippy married Lena Beckel and Frank Shippy
married Annie Ruckert.
Frank and Wiliam played violins and played for dances in the early days.
When Frank married Annie, Mrs. Shippy, his mother, moved to Woodbine. She was
a widow at that time. Frank and Annie had no children.
Frank and Annie lived on the farm where Milton Abei's now reside. From there
they moved to the farm just north of Woodbine and lived where Oscar Gugler lived
and then to the place where Lillis Farres now lives.
Frank was born August 24, 1857 at Metamora, Michigan and came to Kansas in 1871.
He died April 2, 1934.
Annie later married John Krautschat. John was born in 1884 and died in 1959.
Annie was born in 1874 and died in 1962.
Frank and Annie helped build the Nazarene Church in Woodbine and were faithful
members. He was very interested in the Farmer's Union Elevator.
Mr. Charles Hiebert lived with them for a number of years.
