Gerald E. Shippy Family
Gerald E. Shippy, the youngest of six children of Charles H. and Daisy M.
Schoemaker) Shippy, was born September 14, 1941 in the stone home where Charles
and Daisy still reside. He attended the Lyona School during his early grade
school years. After graduation from Chapman High School, he started farming with
his father.
On September 22, 1962 Gerald married Marcile M. Brown from the Industry
community. Also being a graduate of Chapman High School, she was born August 28,
1944 to Francis J. and Leah D. (Paronto) Brown.
Gerald and Marcile are the parents of two sons, Jeffrey S. and Curtis Wayne
(born and died February 2, 1967).
Jeff, born January 25, 1964, graduatd from Chapman High School and North
Central Kansas Area Vo-Tech School at Beloit, Kansas. He started farming with his
father on the family's crop and livestock farm located northeast of Woodbine on
Lyons Creek Road. The family lives in the former Lyona Grade School building,
District 1, which has been remodeled into a home.
