George Traskowsky
George and Hattie Berry Traskowsky moved from Geary County to the Woodbine community
before the turn of the century. They first lived a couple of miles south of town and moved
to the present home place one-half mile east of Woodbine in 1903. The farm contains the
sites of the old Mill Dam and the Mill where grain was ground in the late 1800's. It also
contains the Old Swimming Hole and the timber and the hay meadow where Fourth of July
picnics and ball games were held.
George and Hattie had five children: Grace, Mary, Irene, Art, and Clarence. George
was killed when he and his tractor went over a creek bank in 1931. Hattie died in 1936.
