Louis Westrup
Louis Charles Westrup was born June 15, 1872 near Carry Creek in Liberty Township
north of Woodbine. He and his sisters, Agnes, later Mrs. Ora Kohler, and Caroline, later
Weaver, bought the Lumber Yard in Woodbine from John Price. March 12, 1903, he also bought
the round house but at that time it sat where Ewalt Kickhaefer, now Kenneth Smiths live.
Roger Diekman now lives in the round house.
Louis married Luella Brrehm on January 22, 1908. He formed a partnership with Ora
Kohler on May 29, 1908 and continued this partnership until Louis sold out to retire May
15, 1942. Mr. Westrup passed away in 1943. Mrs. Westrup (Luella) will be remembered by
many teachers who roomed and boarded in her home, the big house fixed for the purpose.
She also worked at the Brown Memorial Home at Abilene and a home in Topeka before returning
to her round house in Woodbine, where she died in 1966. Their chlidren were Kermit, born
September 30, 1910, who married Mildred Engel, and Harold, born December 12, 1912, who
married Roma McKinnie.
