Common School Districts of Johnson County, Kansas

All 101 of the original common school districts in Johnson County were organized by 1886. Most acquired their names from a geographical feature in the area, the owner of the land where the school was constructed or an early board member. Many changed their name one or more times over the years. Following is a list of all of the names known to have been used for these schools between 1861 and 1964 when these common school districts ceased to exist because of school unification.
