Carry Creek -- Dickinson County

The Kansas Heritage Server would like to thank Bruce T. Gugler for submitting this material.

Cannot help with this ORSH photo but I went to a ORSH the first year that to was changed to two class rooms. They added the second class room in the basement when they replaced the coal fire furnace with gas heaters. My brother was in the school before it turn into two classrooms. This was also the school my father went to as a child. The ORSH was Carry Creek, Liberty twp, Dickinson county. my brother's name is Dean A. Gugler, and my father name was Donald P. Gugler. I still remember going to school events with my brother and seeing the horse barn outback with the horses some of the kids rode to school on. We didn't have a horse and I always want to ride one of the horses. The softball field double as the day time horse pasture. This was in the days before the school had indoor plumbing and I can remember the smell of the outhouse which was on the south-east side of the school yard not very far from the swing sets.
