Has anybody ever mentioned Seeley or Seely school southwest of Madison, Greenwood County? I attended from 1955 until 1959, it's last year. I was 10 years old. I am not sure when it was built, but I believe after closing somebody had moved the school to Madison. I have not been able to find out anything for sure, but at this point have to say not done a lot of research. I have some pictures I need to dig out. Dicie Chambers was my teacher, I believe she started sometime in the early 50's. My sisters who are 10 years older have mentioned a Mrs. Newmyer (spelling?). I am thinking this school may have been built in the late 20's due to the oil fields. My dad worked for Phillips 66, and I know City Service and Skelly was around there too. I am also thinking it was District 12. It was larger than the stereotype one room school. Since it was so much larger and had a full basement and full kitchen, the spring Music Festivals were held there. Other one room schools would compete in singing, piano playing, poetry and plays.
