I traveled to see my 90-year old parents yesterday and discussed with my mom regarding school my grandmother taught in. It was the only one-room school in Cherokee county Kansas and my grandmother, Clara Silence, was the teacher early, early 1900s prior to her marriage in 1910 and then not allowed to teach. She was supervised by the school superintendent located in Columbus, Kansas. Don't have a name for the school. I'll spend some time reviewing all the teacher convention booklets and get some names to you... hope this helps a LITTLE....thanks again....Margo.
