BWAKA - about us

Family Trees

Our purpose in displaying Potawatomi family trees is not just to show genealogical information but also to make it possible for those of you seeking knowledge of your ancestors to find information that will enable you to advance your research. For that reason, we do not give just direct lines but data on other branches of the family when it is available.

Our family trees are organized by ancestor. Potawatomi ancestors are highlighted. The person you may contact for further information is listed in bold in the family tree; contact information is given at the bottom of the page. Brief information about Potawatomi ancestors is given there as well.

Individual listings show the person's name and years of birth and death. If the person married, the spouse's name is shown on the next line, preceded by a "+" sign. Second and subsequent spouses are listed and can be readily found. Birth and death years are given for the spouse, if they are known.

If both birth and death years are given, they are shown as: bbbb dddd. If only the birth year is known, it is preceded by "b." If only the year of death is known, it is preceded by a "d."
