United Church of Christ
6th and Castle
Seneca, Kansas
The original part of this frame church was constructed in 1870
as the Congregational Church. "Congregational church members
decided to build a house of worship on June 20, 1870. They named
a building committee of Reuben Cone, C. T. Whittenhall, H. P.
Dryden, J. L. Fuller and O.C. Dickinson. By Christmas Day, a dedication
of a $4000 frame edifice measuring 32 feet by 50 feet had taken
place in Seneca." (from Seneca: 125 years ago by Michael
Philbrick, 1995)
