Early American Methodism's Circuit Riders, earned about 30 dollars a year and labored as few have ever toiled. Their personal possessions amounted to little more than a pair of saddlebags, some books and their clothes. But their itinerancy

 

kept Methodism able to move swiftly and efficiently over the new times in the new territories, but just started out, not knowing where they were going. They went where people needed to be helped, and souls needed to be saved.
