Notes:

In the Potawatomi text, letters in brackets could not be read with certainty. Words added to the Latin name or the English translation are enclosed in brackets. The Jesuits constructed an elaborate orthography that utilized diacritical marks extensively. Occasionally, more than one such mark was associated with a single letter. In that event, the second diacritical mark follows the letter with which it is associated in the manuscript. Similarly, when the html symbol set does not include the letter/diacritical mark combination, the diacritical mark is inserted after the letter. In chapter 22, verse 18, /enemŕĘkasoře»g/ demonstrates both of these situations.

1 V. 1. There is a strange mark in the middle of /wapisittakodjin/, between the two /t/s. It appears that a letter, probably an /e/ or an /i/ was crossed out.
2 V. 9. /pim/ in the word /pimitisidjig/ are the last fully legible letters on the line. It appears that there may be one more letter in the fold of the book, probably an /i/, which we have used here.
3 V. 9. /m/ in the word /kuim[]wak/ is the last fully legible letter on the line. It appears that there may be one or more additional letters in the fold of the book.
